Samba Traoré

A petrol station in town is robbed. During the robbery one of the accomplices is shot dead. The other one, Samba Traoré, gets away with the takings. What he is carrying is a suitcase full of banknotes. Years later he comes back to the village where he was born. Life there has gone on as it always did. He finds Saratou as beautiful as he remembers her. Samba tells nobody about his past. He tries to build a new life with the money. Underneath the life he wants, though, something is buried. He puts things in order by day and cannot rest at night. The past does not let go of him. Fear works its way into the house little by little. The director Idrissa Ouedraogo draws the portrait of this man patiently. Mistakes that were made do not stay buried for long. Bakary Sangaré and Mariam Kaba appear in the eighty five minute film, a Burkinabe, French and Swiss co-production Idrissa Ouedraogo finished in 1993.
