Scary Mother

Manana is a housewife of fifty. For years she has looked after her family. Something inside her has been kept down, though. Since she was young she has wanted to write. She kept that wish to herself for a long time. One day she starts writing. The more she writes, the less time the house gets. The family is unsettled by the change. Her husband and her children expect the old arrangement from her. Manana does not want to go back to it. The writing pulls her in completely. She gives it her body and her mind. What comes out of it disturbs the people around her. She has to choose between the family and the writing. The film shows what that choice costs. Nato Murvanidze and Dimitri Tatishvili appear in the hundred and seven minute film, a Georgian and Estonian co-production Ana Urushadze finished in 2017.
