School Days with a Pig

A primary school teacher puts a proposal to his class. The proposal is this: that they raise a pig together. When the pig grows they will eat it. The aim is to show the children the cycle of life. They are also meant to learn where food comes from. The class accepts the proposal. They begin to look after the pig. As time passes they grow used to it. In the end a bond forms between them. At that point the real question comes up. They have to decide what to do with the pig. Most of the film is spent on that argument. The work started out from a real event in Osaka. Satoshi Tsumabuki and Ren Osugi take the leads in Tetsu Maeda’s Japanese film of 2008.
