What Dead or Alive 2: Birds Is About
Two contract killers run into each other in the middle of the same job and realise they were childhood friends. They take a break from killing and go back to the small island where they grew up, facing their pasts and the people they could have been. Then they decide to use their skills for something good, which the syndicates they work for do not appreciate. This is the second film of Takashi Miike's trilogy but not a sequel: the same two actors play entirely different characters. It is the most lyrical and gentlest of the three, though Miike's harshness never leaves and some scenes are heavy.
