Scotch: A Golden Dream

The documentary takes up how whisky is made. The account begins with the bottle in your hand. Its question is this: who made it and how. The film follows the answer from barley to barrel. That road makes up the body of the account. At the centre of the account is a master distiller. His name is Jim McEwan. McEwan started out young, sweeping floors at a distillery. In time he became one of the respected names in the trade. The film tells his road from beginning to end. The care and the patience the work takes are its subject. Charles MacLean also appears in Andrew Peat’s Taiwanese and British coproduction of 2018.
