Scratches in the Table

Madelief’s grandmother dies. Her mother takes her to the funeral. Afterwards they stay with her grandfather. The child soon gets bored. She can find nothing to do in the countryside. Then she meets Mischa. Mischa tells her what a summer in the country can be. There is a summer house in the garden. The door of it is locked. The lock makes the child curious. She gets inside and starts going through things. Madelief did not remember her grandmother at all. What she finds in that house begins to tell her. That is how she learns what the woman was like. Madelief Verelst and Rijk de Gooyer appear in the eighty five minute film, a Dutch production Ineke Houtman finished in 1998.
