What Scream for Me Sarajevo Is About
In 1994 Sarajevo was a city under siege, with mortars and rockets falling on it indiscriminately every day. In that situation two Britons working for the United Nations, an officer and another man attached to the fire service, decided it would be a good idea to bring a famous rock singer into the city to play for its people. Bruce Dickinson, the singer of Iron Maiden, was smuggled through the front line with his band Skunkworks and went on stage on 14 December 1994. Tarik Hodžić’s ninety five minute Bosnian documentary sets the footage of that concert alongside what the musicians and the people of Sarajevo who lived through the war say about it now. Jasenko Pasic wrote it.
