What Secrets of War Is About
The summer of 1943 in a village in southern Limburg. Tuur and Lambert are twelve and inseparable, but the occupation puts their families on opposite sides: Tuur's father and older brother have joined the resistance, while Lambert's parents have decided that getting along with the Germans is the sensible course. A new girl, Maartje, arrives from the city, becomes friends with them both, and tells her secret to only one of them. Dennis Bots adapted it from Jacques Vriens' 2007 children's novel. It stays at a child's eye level without making the danger any smaller.
