Sekaiichi Hatsukoi Movie

Yokozawa Takafumi works in the sales department of a publishing house and is a hard, distant man. For years he has been carrying an unreturned love. One night he runs into Kirishima, who learns his secret and uses it to get into his life. On the face of it there is blackmail and teasing, but what Kirishima is really doing is pulling Yokozawa out of the place he has been stuck in for years. Chiaki Kon's fifty minute film tells a side story from Shungiku Nakamura's long-running series and puts Yokozawa at the centre in place of the main couple. The usual shapes of the boys' love genre are here too; the difference is that the character is not a boy but an adult with a career, and that the story takes in Kirishima's small daughter as well. For anyone who does not know the main series the context stays a little thin.
