What Shadow Is About

A man is found dead. His body had been thrown from a train. Who he is nobody knows. Security officers set to work. The police and a medical examiner are involved as well. His identity is pieced together bit by bit. Three separate accounts come out of it. The first is set during the Second World War. The second is in the period right after the war. The third is in the Poland of the day. All three carry the trace of the same man. Each one shows a different face. The film sets those three times one after another. Zygmunt Kęstowicz and Emil Karewicz appear in the ninety eight minute film, a Polish production Jerzy Kawalerowicz finished in 1956.
