She Spent So Many Hours Under the Sun Lamps

A young director is making a film. His friend Christa is with him. Inside the film he is making there are two couples. One of them is real and the other imagined. The story runs through five dreams. Dreams and memories run into each other. The line between reality and fiction keeps dissolving. The film is the story of a shoot and the story of a birth at once. A child comes into the world. Philippe Garrel built the film on two things from his own life. One was his separation from Nico, who had worked beside him for years. The other was the birth of his son. Nico wrote the score for the film as well. The directors Chantal Akerman and Jacques Doillon are among the cast. Anne Wiazemsky and Jacques Bonnaffé appear in the hundred and thirty minute film, a French production Garrel finished in 1985.
