What Shinobi no Mono 3: Resurrection Is About
In the previous film the ninja Ishikawa Goemon was about to be boiled alive. With the help of Hattori Hanzo he gets out of it and stays alive. His next aim is Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the man who tried to have him killed. In the background Tokugawa Ieyasu is quietly making his moves to take all of Japan. The film covers the years between 1595 and 1600 and is built as a continuation of the series. The account shows the ninja not as a superior warrior but as a tool used by those who hold power. Who kills on whose behalf is the question lying under the story. Raizō Ichikawa and Ayako Wakao appear in Kazuo Mori’s eighty six minute Japanese film, completed in 1963.
