Shohei Ohtani: Beyond the Dream

The documentary follows Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani began by playing baseball in Japan. Then he moved to the leagues in America. The film tells that journey from the start. Training sessions and games are recorded. Injuries are part of the account too. Surgery and recovery are discussed. Ohtani plays both as a pitcher and as a hitter. Carrying both at once is not a usual thing. The difference of language and culture comes up as well. Among those speaking are Hideki Matsui and Yu Darvish. His coaches give their own observations. Joe Maddon and Hideki Kuriyama speak as well. Mike Scioscia appears in it as well. Toru Tokikawa directed the hundred minute documentary. The American production was finished in 2023.
