Shor in the City

In Mumbai, during the days of Ganesh Chaturthi, three stories run at the same time. Tilak, who deals in pirated books, and his friends do not know what to do when a bag they steal turns out to contain guns. Abhay, back from America and starting a business, runs into men demanding protection money. And Sawan, a young man who wants to play cricket, agrees to a robbery to fund the dream. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. directed the film together, and it stands outside the usual Bollywood telling of the time: no song and dance numbers, no hero, and all three stories dirty. The noise of the festival and the sound of violence together explain the title. Radhika Apte, Tusshar Kapoor and Sendhil Ramamurthy are in the cast. The endings tie together, but nobody counts as having won.
