Sins of My Father

When Pablo Escobar was killed in 1993, his sixteen year old son fled to Argentina with his mother and sister. He changed his name and lived as Sebastián Marroquín. This documentary moves through his account: who his father was, how it looked from inside the house, and the country he left behind. Marroquín also wants to meet the sons of two politicians his father had killed. Nicolás Entel's Argentine and Colombian co-production neither clears Escobar nor turns him into a legend; the telling runs through the son's mouth, but the sons of the victims speak in the same film. The son of Rodrigo Lara Bonilla is one of them. What it is really about is whether the chain of revenge can be broken. The documentary came out in 2009 and was shown at international festivals.
