What Sleepers West Is About
The private detective Mike Shayne is given the job of taking a woman witness in a murder case to San Francisco, and the two of them board a train. Along the journey the people who do not want her to testify are in the same carriages, and a reporter who is Shayne’s former sweetheart is after the story and making his work harder. As the train runs on, who is on whose side keeps changing, and a decision taken by the engineer puts everyone in danger. Eugene Forde’s seventy four minute American film was adapted from a novel and takes place almost entirely aboard the train; Lloyd Nolan and Lynn Bari appear.
