Sons of Rizk 3: Knockout

Tarek Al-Aryan's 2024 Egyptian film is the third instalment of the series. The sons of Rizk went their separate ways years earlier; a threat out of the past brings them back together and they have to plan a large-scale robbery. The series counts among the productions that raised the scale of action cinema in Egypt. In this entry the chases and fights were shot with a larger budget, and part of the filming took place outside Egypt. Ahmed Ezz, Amr Youssef and Asser Yassin play the brothers. The narrative logic is loose and there is little character development; the film does not disguise it. The aim is a box office title for the holiday period and it is built to that. Viewers who do not know the earlier instalments will struggle with the history between the characters. Who it's for: those who like Egyptian action cinema and follow the series. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a coherent story; the film keeps the action ahead of the narrative.
