Space Tourists

The documentary takes up the wish to go into space. That wish is as old as humanity. Anousheh Ansari had carried it since childhood. She is an American businesswoman. She bought her ticket by paying twenty million dollars. She went through cosmonaut training. The film follows her preparation and her journey. Daily life on the International Space Station is shown as well. The documentary does not tell only that, though. A second story takes place on the steppe of Kazakhstan. The pieces that fall from the rockets come down there. Villagers collect that scrap. They live by selling the metal. The work is dangerous and they put their lives at risk. Anousheh Ansari and Jonas Bendiksen speak in the ninety eight minute documentary. It is a Swiss production Christian Frei finished in 2009.
