Speaking of Buñuel

The documentary takes up the director Luis Buñuel. Buñuel is one of the principal names of surrealism in the history of cinema. Un Chien Andalou is spoken of in the film. The Exterminating Angel and That Obscure Object of Desire are among the works recalled as well. The account also looks at the contradictions in his private life. He was counted a conservative man in person, while his films are florid and flamboyant. That opposition is one of the questions the film puts. The work takes in his years in Spain, Mexico and France. Among those who speak are Silvia Pinal, Francisco Rabal and Carlos Saura. The film by José Luis López-Linares and Javier Rioyo, a coproduction of the United States, Mexico, Spain and France, was completed in 2000.
