19 films

Ángela Molina shares a single role with Carole Bouquet in Luis Buñuel's That Obscure Object of Desire; the director has the same character played by two different actresses. That choice later became a benchmark: Ryan Gilbey, describing how two actors who are really brother and sister are deliberately confused in Pen-Ek Ratanaruang's Last Life in the Universe, refers back to Buñuel's decision. In 1986 Molina won the Italian film academy's David for best lead actress with Un complicato intrigo di donne, vicoli e delitti. The Spanish film academy has nominated her three times for best lead actress: for Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón's La mitad del cielo of 1986, for Luces y sombras, and for Jaime Chávarri's Las cosas del querer of 1989. Two further nominations of hers sit among the supporting actresses, for Pedro Almodóvar's Live Flesh of 1997 and Pablo Berger's Blancanieves of 2012. None of those five turned into a Goya; La mitad del cielo took a Goya that year for original music, while Las cosas del querer won none of its seven nominations.
