What Stalingrad Is About
A German infantry company is sent to the eastern front after leave in Italy. When they enter the city, winter is still weeks away. The film builds neither heroism nor guilt; as it proceeds the enemy, the command and the purpose fall away one by one, leaving only cold and hunger.
