Kalaiarasan wants to be an actor. His family is poor; his father does not treat it as a fantasy and backs him. Kalai acts in short films, goes to auditions and waits his turn. He gets small parts. Then an opportunity comes. But there is an accident and his face is damaged. Acting is work that depends on a face and Kalai is no longer the same person. His family cannot talk about it. He shuts himself in the house. Then he looks for another road and this time he looks behind the camera. Elan writes and directs. Kavin plays Kalai; Lal, Aaditi Pohankar and Preity Mukhundhan are in the cast. The language is Tamil. The film opened on 10 May 2024 and went to streaming on 7 June; the music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja. It was made for about twelve crore and took around twenty four crore. The matter it treats is the price of an ambition; the film does not present success as a right. The father is its emotional centre; he never questions his son's choice. The narrative also shows how Tamil cinema works; the auditions, the assistant work and the waiting. The narrative changes kind in the second half and the section after the accident moves more heavily. The ending gives no victory and the character's situation is not fully put right. Its limit is length; the narrative is long, the interludes scatter it, and the ending sentimental. Who it is for: viewers who like Tamil cinema and films about the cinema. Who it is not for: it is long, heavy, and the ending sad.
