Metro... In Dino

Relationships in four cities and four age groups. Two young people who have just met, a couple whose marriage has stalled, a woman in middle age reconsidering her life, and an older couple meeting again after many years. The stories touch each other, and all of them happen in motion, on trains and in the metro. Anurag Basu writes and directs. Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher and Saswata Chatterjee are in the cast. Pritam wrote the music. It is a spiritual sequel to Basu's Life in a... Metro from 2007. The same structure, the same sense of a city, and the same method: the musicians appear on screen, the songs come out of the scene and belong to the narrative. Basu dedicated the film to two people: the singer KK and the actor Irrfan Khan. Both were central to the first film, KK singing its songs and Irrfan playing its most loved character. Both are dead, and the dedication is tied directly to the film itself. It opened on 4 July 2025, took roughly 790 million rupees against a budget of 470 million, and drew positive reviews. Who it is for: viewers who like multi strand Indian drama, stories about cities, and Pritam's music. Who it is not for: some strands are weaker than others, it runs long, and without the first film some of the references pass by.
