Stephen Tobolowsky's Birthday Party

Stephen Tobolowsky is an actor. He is usually seen in supporting parts. The documentary was shot on his birthday. A group gathers that day. His friends are there and so are the cameras. Tobolowsky takes the stage. He has no script in his hand. What he tells is what he has lived. The subject is his years in Hollywood. One story follows another. The documentary takes them as they come. Robert Brinkmann and Andrew Putschoegl are the filmmakers. The two of them follow the day through. The film stands as a portrait of an actor. Ann Hearn, Amy Adams and Mena Suvari also appear in the eighty seven minute film, an American production Robert Brinkmann finished in 2006.
