What Storm Is About
At the court in The Hague, the prosecutor Hannah Maynard is trying a Serbian commander for crimes committed during the war in Bosnia. As the hearing proceeds an inconsistency appears in the main witness's account and the case is shaken. The court sends a team to Bosnia. There Hannah meets a woman who has never spoken about it before. Hans-Christian Schmid's film does not tell the prosecution of war crimes as a heroic story. What it is really about is how the court itself works, the political pressure on it, and the price the witnesses pay. Kerry Fox plays the prosecutor and Anamaria Marinca the witness. The crimes committed in the Yugoslav wars are documented in the court's judgments; the film looks at how those judgments come about.
