Kevin, a limousine driver in Los Angeles, has to find six thousand dollars in twenty-four hours to clear his gambling debts. The client he draws that night is Roger Karos, a billionaire who arrives by parachute, takes cocaine and intends to use his driver until morning. Over the night Kevin passes through a funeral home, a sex party and an attempt on someone's life. Joe Carnahan wrote and directed. Patrick Wilson plays Kevin and Chris Pine plays Karos, with Jessica Alba, Ed Helms, Brooklyn Decker and David Hasselhoff as himself. What happened to the film is more interesting than what is in it. Universal cancelled the theatrical release; it went straight to digital platforms in 2014 with almost no promotion. Carnahan was openly unhappy about the decision. Who it is for: viewers who like black comedies that run across one night and fast Los Angeles pictures. Who it is not for: anyone wanting consistency. The tone keeps shifting and the women exist almost entirely as devices of the plot.
