Styrmand Karlsen

The film takes place on the deck of a ship. Knud Karlsen is the first mate aboard her. As he starts the voyage he gets bad news. The news comes from his girlfriend. It shakes him. There are other people on the ship. The cook Valdemar works in the galley. A sailor called Ole is in the crew. The owner’s son Robert is aboard as well. The young man is rather too sure of himself. The rest of the crew are young and eager. Frictions come up among them over the voyage. Then a fire breaks out on board. The fire puts everybody in motion at once. Dirch Passer and Ove Sprogøe take the leads, with Ghita Nørby also in the cast, in Annelise Reenberg’s Danish film of 1958.
