Surviving Ohio State

Eva Orner's 2025 documentary concerns sexual abuse that continued at a university for two decades. The conduct of the team doctor Richard Strauss towards hundreds of students was reported for years without action being taken. At the centre are the survivors. Former athletes, many of them wrestlers, sit before the camera; rather than recount the incidents one by one, the narrative follows how the complaints stayed inside the institution. The second line is accountability. What figures who were on the coaching staff at the time and later entered politics knew is debated; the documentary works from archive recordings and court documents. Strauss died in 2005 and was never tried. Who it's for: those who follow investigative documentary on institutional cover-up. Who it's not for: viewers for whom accounts of sexual abuse would sit heavily; the testimony is detailed.
