Swapped

Swapped (2026) is set in a valley shared by two species. Ollie, an inventor from a people called the Pookoo, and Ivy, from the bird like Javan, are accidentally transformed into each other. The two sides do not speak to one another, and now both need each other to survive. Nathan Greno directed. He co directed Tangled at Disney, and this is a Skydance Animation production with John Lasseter producing, so much of that earlier team is together again. The project changed name twice. It was announced as Powerless in 2018, then Pookoo in 2020, and finally arrived as Swapped. It was originally developed for Apple TV+, and Netflix acquired distribution rights in October 2023. Michael B. Jordan voices Ollie and Juno Temple voices Ivy, with Tracy Morgan and Cedric the Entertainer in support. Siddhartha Khosla wrote the score. It opened on Netflix and in selected cinemas on 1 May 2026. Good for: family animation, body swap comedy, and children's stories about prejudice. Less good for: the premise is familiar and the peace between the two communities comes easily. Some of the jokes are aimed over children's heads and break the rhythm, and the worldbuilding is delivered too fast in the first twenty minutes.
