Sweeney 2

Regan and Carter are after a run of robberies. The robbers are a well armed crew who fly in from the continent to do the job. The Flying Squad runs the investigation. The film shows police work not as heroism but as a wearing occupation. The state of crime and policing in Britain in the seventies is the ground of the account. The work is the second film taken from a popular television series into the cinema. The hardness and the language of the series carry over into the film. The hundred and four minutes are given to a single investigation. John Thaw and Dennis Waterman appear in Tom Clegg’s British film, completed in 1978.
