Sweet Rain: Accuracy of Death

Chiba appears seven days before an unexpected death. His task is simple: to observe the person for seven days and then decide whether the death goes ahead or is passed over. He does not try to understand people, he only watches; he likes listening to music, and it rains on every day he appears. This time the subject is a tired woman named Kazue Fujiki, who works in a complaints department. Masaya Kakehi's film is adapted from Kotaro Isaka's novel and ties three separate stories onto the same line. The reaper here is not frightening but curious and slightly inept, and the comedy comes from that. What the film is really about is not death but how people carry on living inside pain. Takeshi Kaneshiro carries a character who is surprised by nothing and pays attention to everything.
