What Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight Is About
A man carrying an old key takes refuge in an abandoned motel. The thing pursuing him sets about turning the residents one by one. The film uses the siege shape and draws its tension less from the creatures outside than from the guests not trusting each other. The makeup and mechanical effects belong to the era before computers, and the film does not hide it. Ernest R. Dickerson directed, having been the cinematographer on Spike Lee's films. Billy Zane and Jada Pinkett Smith lead. It is the first cinema film to come out of the television series of the same name. Who it's for: those who like nineteen-nineties horror with practical effects. Who it's not for: viewers wanting serious horror; the film keeps opening into humour.
