What Talhotblond Is About
A love triangle conducted entirely through a keyboard, and a real body at the end of it. A married man in his forties presents himself online as a young marine and starts writing to an eighteen-year-old going by the handle talhotblond. His twenty-two-year-old co-worker is writing to her too. Neither of them has ever met her. Barbara Schroeder assembles the case from chat logs, police material and interviews with the families, and saves for last the question of who was actually typing on the other side. It won the documentary grand jury prize at the Seattle festival in 2009.
