Taşı Toprağı Altın Şehir

Ökkeş Uyanık lives in a village. With him are his wife Fatma, his son Mehmet and his brother Cemal. They have saved for years. In the end they leave the village for Istanbul. In the city they buy a tractor. They start working to pay off the instalments. Fatma takes a cleaning job in the house of a bar owner. That does not sit well with Ökkeş. Mehmet starts selling untaxed cigarettes. Ökkeş sets up a fruit stall of his own. The family begins to come apart in the city, each going a separate way. Ökkeş is the one who stays as he was, and what he learns is that Istanbul is not the golden city the title names. Levent Kırca and Ayşegül Atik appear in the film, a Turkish production Orhan Aksoy finished in 1978.
