Clara loses her fiance in an accident and, unable to carry the grief, keeps texting him. The number has long since been reassigned. The messages reach Mark, a journalist, who starts answering while trying to work out who is sending them. Karoline Herfurth directed and played Clara. Friedrich Mucke plays Mark. The source is Sofie Cramer's novel. The trap in the premise is plain: Mark enters Clara's life without admitting he knows her from the messages, and the film converts the ethical weight of that lie into romantic tension rather than examining it. The story travelled. An English-language version arrived in 2022 with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan, with Celine Dion playing herself. It found nothing like the German original's audience anywhere. Herfurth went on from here to direct some of Germany's biggest comedy hits. Who it is for: viewers who like soft romantic drama about grief and starting over. Who it is not for: anyone with no patience for stacked coincidence.
