What Thank You, Life Is About
Camille is a naive schoolgirl. Joëlle, whom she meets by chance, is a little older, a great deal more experienced, and does everything on purpose. Camille follows her, and learns sex and the darker end of life from her at the same time. Then AIDS enters the picture and Camille is left with the possibility that she picked it up in those first weeks. Bertrand Blier refuses to tell it straight: scenes rewrite their own rules and reality and fiction keep folding into each other. Charlotte Gainsbourg and Anouk Grinberg lead, with Michel Blanc, Jean Carmet, Annie Girardot and Jean-Louis Trintignant around them. The provocation is entirely deliberate.
