What That Man: Peter Berlin Is About
In the seventies Peter Berlin built his own image as a model, photographer, filmmaker and clothes designer; the look he is known for, the tight white trousers, the leather vest, the haircut, he designed himself from beginning to end. The documentary shows him now, in his own home and in his own words. John Waters, Armistead Maupin and Wakefield Poole talk about that period and about what Berlin meant. The film treats him not as an icon but as a man who built himself as a work of art. The distance between the man living quietly now and the face everyone once looked at is part of the account too. Jim Tushinski’s eighty minute American documentary was completed in 2006.
