That's Entertainment!

That's Entertainment!, directed by Jack Haley Jr., is a compilation documentary bringing together the most memorable musical sequences from MGM studio's fifty year history, narrated by ten classic era stars including Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, James Stewart, and Elizabeth Taylor. In the film, Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly walk through MGM's abandoned backlot reminiscing about old times, and the film shows archival footage of "The Babbitt and the Bromide," the only number the two danced together at the peak of their careers. The film was a commercial success in its genre and led to a 1976 sequel, though the claim found in some sources that it was 1974's highest grossing film is not accurate, that year's top box office spot belonged to Blazing Saddles. Who it's for: anyone curious about a nostalgic compilation of MGM's golden age musical highlights, narrated by the very stars who performed them. Who it's not for: those looking for a new story, since the film is built entirely from archival scenes drawn from past productions.
