The Actor

Akbar works as an actor in Iran. Everyone around him sees him as a man who makes people laugh. He himself wants to play serious parts. He wishes to be counted as an artist. But the working life does not allow it. Money trouble comes between him and that every time. The offers he gets are always of the same kind. There are matters at home as well. He and his wife have not been able to have children. That situation strains things between them. Akbar is caught between two directions. The account makes room for humour along the way. Akbar Abdi and Azita Hajian take the leads, with Fatemeh Motamed-Arya also in the cast, in Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s Iranian film of 1993.
