What The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Is About
Tom Sawyer is a boy growing up with his aunt in a town on the Mississippi in Missouri, fond of skipping school and getting into trouble. His closest friend is Huckleberry Finn, who belongs to nobody. One night the two of them witness a murder in the graveyard and watch the blame fall on the wrong man. Later they run off to an island to play at being pirates; the town assumes they are dead, and the boys attend their own funeral. Norman Taurog directs, adapting Mark Twain's novel. It was produced by David O. Selznick and is one of the first versions shot in colour. The cave sequence was much talked about at the time.
