What Men of Boys Town Is About
Father Flanagan, who heads Boys Town, the home founded in Nebraska for abandoned boys and boys in trouble with the law, is struggling to raise the money to keep it going. Meanwhile the story of a boy he takes out of a reform school, who trusts nobody, and of another boy who cannot walk moves to the centre of the account; Flanagan risks everything for both. The film starts from a real institution and argues that these are children to be protected rather than offenders to be corrected. Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney appear in Norman Taurog’s hundred and six minute American film, a sequel to the picture of the same name; it was completed in 1941.
