What The Agronomist Is About
Jean Dominique owned and was the voice of Radio Haiti Inter, the only free radio station in Haiti; he founded it in the early 1960s and was called the voice of the people across four decades. Jonathan Demme started filming him in 1991, in the days when Jean-Bertrand Aristide was overthrown, and followed him across hundreds of hours of footage through exile in New York, his return, and his shift from supporter of Aristide to one of his sharpest critics. Dominique was shot dead on 3 April 2000 by assailants who were never identified. The documentary screened at the Miami International Film Festival in 2003 and opened in the United States on 23 April 2004.
