What The Apostle Is About
A man who has just broken out of prison goes to a remote village in Galicia to collect treasure he hid there years earlier. Nobody in the village likes strangers, the church is odd and the old people are odder. It does not take him long to understand that a worse sentence than the one he escaped is waiting for him here. And the night on which the dead are said to return is approaching. Fernando Cortizo's film is one of the very few Spanish features made in stop motion. Galician folklore, local belief and the traditions around the day of the dead are built into the story. The voice cast includes one of Paul Naschy's last performances, and Geraldine Chaplin.
