What The Art of Organized Noize Is About
Organized Noize is a production trio of Rico Wade, Ray Murray and Sleepy Brown. They worked in the basement of a house in Atlanta, the place they called the Dungeon, and built the sound of southern hip hop there. OutKast, Goodie Mob, CeeLo and the wider Dungeon Family came out of that basement. The documentary is about how the sound was made and about how the money and the credit were shared out afterwards. André 3000, Big Boi, Sean Combs, Ludacris, Future, 2 Chainz and L. A. Reid appear on camera. Quincy Jones III directed, Joshua Krause wrote and edited it, and Queen Latifah’s company Flavor Unit Entertainment was among the producers. It screened at SXSW in 2016 and then went out on Netflix.
