The Bey Doorman

Abdel Samea comes from Upper Egypt. His wife and children are with him. He is looking for work. He finds a job as a doorman in Cairo. The building is in a wealthy district. He works the city out quickly. He sees what the people around him need. He starts arranging deals on their behalf. The brokering brings him money. As the money grows his methods change with it. He turns other people’s difficulties to his own account. In time he puts together a small fortune, and the film tells it as comedy while keeping a criticism inside it. Ahmed Zaki, Safia ElEmary, Fouad Al-Mohandes and Ragaa Al-Giddawy appear in the hundred and nineteen minute film, an Egyptian production Hassan Ibrahim finished in 1987.
