The Bra

Nurlan drives a train in Baku and is close to retiring. The line runs through the city between the houses, and people hang their washing over the track. On his last run the train catches a blue bra and carries it off. Nurlan decides to find whose it is. He takes a small room in the city and goes door to door trying to have women try it on. Each door opens onto another woman and another life. What he is looking for is not really the owner of the bra. Veit Helmer directs; ninety minutes, with Miki Manojlović as Nurlan and Denis Lavant, Paz Vega and Chulpan Khamatova in the cast. There is no dialogue in the film; the story is told entirely in images. Helmer is one of the few directors who has kept working in that form for years.
