What The Case of the Howling Dog Is About
Cartwright, a very nervous man, comes into the office of the lawyer Perry Mason wanting to complain about his neighbour’s howling dog, saying the howling is a sign of a death in the neighbourhood. During the same visit he has a will drawn up leaving his estate to the woman living in the house next door. By the next day the will has been changed, Cartwright has disappeared and so has the woman from next door. Left holding a will and a retainer, Mason has to work out whether he has a client or a beneficiary. In Alan Crosland’s seventy four minute American film, Warren William plays Mason and Mary Astor the woman; the production was adapted from a novel and completed in 1934.
