What Don Juan Is About

Don Juan de Marana, taught by his father what three things women give a man, settles in Rome after his studies in Pisa and becomes the most sought after man in the city. Rome is ruled by the Borgia family; failing to return Lucrezia Borgia’s interest and killing Count Donati in a duel makes him their direct target. The cause of all this is Adriana, the one woman he cannot have, and the two of them are condemned to death together. John Barrymore appears in Alan Crosland’s hundred and twelve minute American film. It was the first feature released with a synchronised score and sound effects; the music was played by the New York Philharmonic, and it was completed in 1926.
