The Cloud

A black cloud sits over Buenos Aires. The rain has been falling for sixteen hundred days. Traffic and people on foot move backwards. Max is an ageing actor. He runs a theatre in a former fish market. The place is called the Mirror Theatre. There is no money and the building may be pulled down. Max is drawn to a Brazilian dancer. Her name is Fulo. She has a daughter back home. Corruption and police violence go on in the city. Enrique, an older colleague of Max’s, starts a protest. It is about unpaid old age pensions. The pensioners get their demand accepted, and are then told there is no money. The film builds the real and the dreamed into one another. Eduardo Pavlovsky and Leonor Manso appear in the hundred and twenty minute film, a French and Argentine production Fernando E. Solanas finished in 1998.
