The Collector

The life of Eevi, young and out of work, is not going the way she wants. She takes her sister Ami’s money and car and sets off with nowhere to go. She turns the anger inside her on the people she meets along the way and leaves wreckage behind her; she will not let anyone tell her no again. The film does not try to make its heroine likeable, and it does not try to explain her either. The account does not tally up the damage either; what each person lost is understood from the state of the people she leaves behind. It was the director’s first feature. Leea Klemola plays the lead in Auli Mantila’s ninety eight minute Finnish film, completed in 1997.
